Visit of U.S. Congressman Gene Taylor (D-Mississippi)

Mississippi Congressman Gene Taylor will visit Colombia on February 20-23 to review U.S. sustainment and equipment training of Colombian military, police, and naval personnel at Tolemaida and Cartagena. While in Cartagena, he will tour the USS Yorktown, which will visit that city as flagship of the Caribbean phase of the multilateral naval operation, UNITAS 2002. (UNITAS 2002 is the subject of a separate Embassy press release dated February 15, 2002.)

Congressman Taylor last visited Colombia on February 22, 2001. He serves on both the House Armed Services Committee and on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He was first elected to Congress in 1989 and has served seven terms in the House of Representatives.
