ENCOUNTER WITH MEDIA, ELN AND PEACE COMMISSIONER

Bogotá, D.C., January 26 , 2001 (ANCOL). - 20 Media Directors, Camilo Gomez, the High Peace Commissioner and Julio Londoño Paredes, Colombia´s Ambassador in Cuba will meet today with Nicolas Rodriguez Bautista ("Gabino"), maximum leader of the National Liberation Army.

THE COMMISSIONER INFORMED THAT THE REUNION THAT WILL BE CELEBRATED SOME PLACE IN THE SOUTH OF BOLIVAR IS TO EXCHANGE INFORMATION ABOUT THE ADVANCES TOWARDS THE STABLISHMENT OF A POSSIBLE "ENCOUNTER ZONE" THAT WILL ALLOW THE "NATIONAL CONVENTION" WITH THE GUERRILLA GROUP TO TAKE PLACE.

Some of the journalists that will participate are: Enrique Santos from El Tiempo; Rafael Pardo from Cm& Television; Daniel Coronel from NTC Television; Alvaro García from RCN Television; Carlos Ruiz from Caracol Radio and Victor J. Jimenez from RCN Radio.
