I will be difficult to reach today, and for the rest of the week. (How to contact me)
Good morning from San Diego, California. Yesterday evening I flew across the continent cramped into middle seats on two planes, typing into my laptop with my elbows practically touching. I need an economist to explain to me whether U.S. airlines suck because of too much competition (driving down prices so that service is shoddy) or not enough competition (no consequences for shoddy service, because where else can you go).
Anyway. Unlike sunny Washington, it’s cool and cloudy here. Today we have a series of meetings lined up with two security experts, some border activists, and a local journalist. I’ll be out and about all day, and don’t expect to be able to post much here.
